Blurb: When Terry and Kel Coleman run from their abusive father, they end up in Denver. The day they arrive, they meet three street kids named Rudy, Snap, and Josie. The brothers move into the trio’s squat where Rudy and the others teach Terry and Kel the ins-and-outs of survival on the streets. While that happens, Terry and Rudy are drawn to each other and begin a tentative relationship.

Then Kel is almost kidnapped by a man sent by his father to bring him home. Forced to leave their squat to keep Kel safe, they turn to a local pastor for help. Thanks to the pastor, the five young people may find hope for their future — if they can survive the present. In the process, can the budding relationship between Terry and Rudy survive, or will it be torn apart by the life they’re forced to live

Review: Terry and his younger brother Kelly have lived in fear and abuse by their father all their lives, Terry taking the beatings for Kelly. Once Kel turned 16, Terry had enough and they packed a bag and ran away to Colorado thinking it would be far enough away that their father couldn’t find them.

They had no idea what to do or where to go. They did know they didn’t want to sell their body or drugs, but that was as far as they had thought it out. At the Mall they meet a group of kids asking for change and decide to ask them how to survive the streets.

Snap, Josie and Rudy have been on the streets mostly since being teens. They are a close-knit group and haven’t wanted to take others in with them but after meeting these two boys they decide to make an exception and teach them how to survive.

This is a very well done story of street life. It isn’t the typical all kids on the streets are thugs, druggies or prostitutes. This shows that some are out there just to get away from a terrible life or have been tossed out like yesterday’s trash and are trying to survive without being one of the above statistics.

I love how Edward fills his story with several characters, all intriguing and integral to the story instead of focusing on one main character, has an interesting plot, tosses in some mystery and some mild sex.

If you like young adult, street life, a little mystery, mild sex and a satisfying ending this is for you.

Review: I really loved this book. It has the main elements that attract me: childhood friends (or there about), some sort of tragedy bringing the men together and even one of the men having some sort of disadvantage/disability, in this case it is deafness. In fact, I’m a sucker for any book that features either a blind, deaf main character, I think because these characters usually have a unique perspective or a certain drive purposely given to them by the authors.

Anyway, back to the story. This is about Andrew, who moves back to his hometown in the South after years away only for one of his childhood friends, Richard, to die soon after he arrived. Andrew lives in a home he inherited, which is also next door to Richard’s younger, deaf and very gay brother, Brett.

For the most part this is a pleasing plot to read. Andrew and Brett not only live together but also begin to reacquaint themselves with each after so many years. There are bullies and love interests lurking in the background. The only thing that I will bring up is that I wish that the storyline with the bully character was fleshed out a bit more, partly because of it. I felt that the ending was rushed.

Otherwise, an excellent read.

Blurb: After a lengthy world tour, pop star Samuel Gibbs is looking forward to a nice, quiet break—sleep in, write a bit of music, do his own cooking for a change. He doesn’t want his time spoiled by the constant presence of bodyguards, and he is certainly not willing to have someone tail him each time he so much as goes to the shops. No way, no how. It’s a good thing, then, that his head of security relents on the matter—or so he leads Samuel to believe.

The break is starting to look even better when Samuel runs into his new neighbour. Ryan Halston is smart and hot and, quite possibly, everything Samuel wants. However, he doesn’t know that Ryan is part of the rejected security detail, tasked with protecting him from the dangerous attentions of an unknown stalker.

Review: This is one really well written book with a couple of unexpectedly sweet main characters. Samuel is a world-famous pop star, who wants a break from his hectic schedule without any bodyguards following him. It’s about this time that he also meets his new and very hot neighbour, Ryan. Ryan is Sam’s new undercover bodyguard. He hates the fact that his boss has made him lie to Sam about being his security detail, but apparently it is a necessary evil.

Perhaps, I will admit, this story is probably a little predictable in its basic direction. However, don’t let that deter you. Sam is unexpectedly the opposite of the ego driven rock star that I was expecting, the fact that his character is down to earth and really rather sensible makes him very relatable.

On the other hand, Ryan, it seems, is just a cuddly teddy bear. He was a lot sweeter than I had originally thought, but then again it is not uncommon to encounter his calibre of army officer/bodyguard/cop/fire fighter/etc. in MM romance.

Though not actually short, the flow and writing style meant that I just flew through the pages and enjoyed every minute of it.

Blurb: Private investigator Mackenzie Williams’s newest client is everything he’s looking for in a guy—charming, beautiful, intelligent, and successful. There’s only one itty bitty problem—the guy’s not exactly gay. In fact, Jordan Channing is looking for a PI to follow his fiancée. The smart thing would be to thank Jordan for his time, turn Mr. Perfect away (don’t let the door hit you on the rump, thank you very much), and forget he exists.

Of course, Mackenzie has never been accused of doing the smart thing. Being smart aleck is more his MO. Relationships aren’t up his alley, never have been. So why’s he so inexplicably drawn to his new client?

Jordan has always been the high achiever, a man who lives in a focused, controlled, and carefully constructed manner. But for the first time in his life, he has to admit the impossible—another man is getting his engine running on all cylinders. Despite Jordan’s denial, it’s not long before he can no longer resist the strong undercurrents pulling them together.

Now Jordan must decide if he can go against everything he’s ever known to have the only love he’s ever wanted.

Review: Mackenzie Williams, or Mack as most people call him, is a former cop turned PI after an accident left him with a permanent injury and his then boyfriend in a wheel chair. Fresh off his latest breakup, Mack fills his lonely days with work, surfing and quick one offs with a hot surfer he’s known for years, Asher. Everything changes on his latest case when he and his best friend slash business partner Drew, spot what they assume is another investigator crowding their stakeout.

Jordan Channing is smart, sexy, and funny and oh, wait, he’s straight, and engaged. Jordan is, in fact, spying on his fiancé when Mack wanders up to his car and just makes himself at home. So of course, Jordan hires him to follow Rachel. From the start Mack notices that Jordan is a little bit more flirtatious than a self-proclaimed straight guy should be, but Jordan brushes Mack off when he asks, stating he just needs a friend. But the sexual tension continues to grow until it reaches a breaking point and Jordan is the recipient of a lovely blow job on top of Mack’s desk.

The two begin a whirl wind affair that is absolutely wonderful, behind closed doors. Jordan struggles with his sexuality, but he is so drawn to Mack and his eccentric personality that he just can’t stay away. And as much as Mack tells himself it is all good fun, just a fling, his heart attaches itself more and more to Jordan with every touch, every kiss, and every passionate tryst. The problem is that Mack is his own worst enemy. He tells himself that he is not going to give up on Jordan, he wants to fight for what they are building, and that is what his heart says. His brain doesn’t get the memo.

I really enjoyed the odd couple pairing in this book, the opposites attract aspect. Mack goes through a lot emotionally throughout the story, and it was at times annoying the way he would deliberately set himself up to fail or walk away when he should have stood strong. But you have to hang on until the end, because he tells you exactly why he is like that in the last 10 minutes of the book.

Jordon struggles as well emotionally, but he has a lot thrown at him in a short time. He learns his fiancé is cheating, meets this insane guy that grates his nerves in all the right ways, and he is insanely attracted to him, he doesn’t quite know what to do with that for a while. There is this one line in the book that was so perfect, “I’m trying to figure out if I’m bi, or if it’s just you.” So Jordan takes a little while to figure out that it’s actually both.

The chemistry and the passion between these two is electric and white-hot. I seriously thought my iPod was going to catch on fire a couple of times. The one thing these two have absolutely no problems with from pretty much the word go is sex. Jordan is having a blast figuring out how his body works in relation to being with another man and Mack is loving every second of that journey. There were just a couple little hiccups for me. A couple of times the story slowed and started to drag, it always picked back up, but in all honesty I think this book could have been a couple of hours shorter and been just as good, if not better.

Narrated by Michael Stellman and I will say his voice is very young and energetic but every now and then, a couple of the characters bleed together. For the most part, I knew exactly who I was with at all times, but I’d like to hear a stronger change in tone inflections between characters. Overall this was an entertaining read. If you are a fan of Mary Calmes, specifically Jory and Sam Kage, then I think you’ll see some similarities in characteristics in this book.

A must listen for anyone that likes those different kind of love stories where that happy ever after isn’t handed to you, it’s earned.

Blurb: Gabriel Braven senses danger, but he’s helpless to stop it.
Gabriel’s inevitable transformation into a merman brings him both great joy and great sadness. Though he must soon leave his human family, he is eager to experience the beauty of Emralis, the Mer city, together with his water-dwelling lover, Casillus. As Gabriel’s protective mental barriers finally begin to drop, he can grasp the true depths of his Mer prince’s encompassing love.

But Gabriel is unusual, even for a Mer. As a rare Caller, his psychic gifts surprise even Casillus. Though they will enable him to speak mind-to-mind with Corey and Grandma G on land, they also draw him closer to Cthulhu, the alien entity whose presence means destruction and madness for the human race.

But Gabriel’s time on land is running out. He has a feeling that nothing will stop his grandmother’s lover, Professor Johnson Tims, from exposing the Mer’s existence. And he is not at all sure he can hold Cthulhu back from protecting the ocean-dwelling race… and destroying the humans in the process, including Corey and Grandma G!

Review: Gabriel Braven has finally come to terms with the fact that he is Mer, though he is still having trouble with the fact he will have to leave his best friend and his Grandmother behind on dry land to complete the transition. Having finally accepted his destiny he is also letting down his guard with Casillus and the bond between them is only growing stronger.

Casillus takes Gabriel deeper into the water than they’ve ventured thus far and surprises him with a glimpse of their home and they finally, fully consummate their relationship. But there is a dark entity that attached itself to Gabriel long ago, an entity that can only be awoken by a Caller.

Each installment of this series just gets juicier with content and storyline. I especially enjoyed the conversation Gabriel had with Cthulhu, the dark alien like entity that is supposed to be a guardian of sorts for the Mer.

And that ending, whoa! I’m very excited to see how everything comes together in the end. Gabriel has shown himself to be a different kind of Mer, of course he’s a Caller and he’s mated to the Mer Prince, Casillus, but it’s more than that. I think the link he has with Cthulhu when the creature saved him as a child is going to be what saves them in the end.

If you are looking for something short, sexy and steamy that is well written and narrated to get you through your day, you should consider the Merman saga.

Start with book 1 though or you’ll have no idea what is going on.

Review: There are certain types of stories that will capture your attention and have you feeling more than you have ever felt before. Half the time I was pissed when I read this story and the other half I was just numb. It is definitely not my type of story. I don’t even really know how to truly put it into words.

It was well written and had an amazing account of what life is truly like with an ass for a father. Then when Robbie finds out the secrets that his parents had been hiding will have you in tears.

Robbie and his brothers had been raised showing horses. His mother was terrific but his father not so. His father was harsh, cold and downright cruel. It isn’t till his mother was killed in a car accident that his father started the physical abuse. Knowing the times were changing, they had moved in with an uncle.

The truth starts to come out after a beating his father was intending to give him for being friends with a gay black boy. But more truths than just what his father was giving was about to come out.

Sam knew that Robbie was straight and he also knew that things were not peachy with their father. Sam also knew that he was falling for Robbie at a fast pace. Because of him, he knows that he has pissed Robbie’s father off. He just had not known the true pain that the boy he was falling for was going through. Nor had he realized that Robbie’s brothers blamed Robbie for their mother’s death. There are many secrets that this family has and it might just tear them apart.

If you love stories about the coming out stage for a young teen then this book is for you. I can honestly say that it is well told and Caitlin put her heart into it. However this book was not for me. I felt like it was missing something for me to truly get into. That and the fact that it is about a young man finding himself and the truths that were about to be realized.

David, raised a strict evangelical fundamentalist, is embarrassed by his own virginity. Both men are sent to Puffin Island and, David’s heart struggles with his imbedded childhood dogma and lethally homophobic parents, propelling him to establish an unthinkable bond of love with Wyatt, and, when the unthinkable happens, and Wyatt is left alone, he has no option but to move forward because there is a lot at stake. He turns to the unlikeliest of characters to fill the void, a person who will teach him an important lesson; that love is all about choice, and on making a decision, he must sacrifice a need that had been created by his past with David.
