Blurb: Adventure brought unlikely lovers Lord Leonard “Leo” Harris and Master Leathersmith Gerald Smithson together. Now it threatens to tear them apart. Three weeks before their wedding, a plague strikes Victorian London—the worst to engulf the city in five hundred years. The symptoms are eerily reminiscent of the Black Death with boils, a horrific death, and immunity to magical cures.
As one of the most powerful mages in the country, Leo searches for a cure and the person behind the scourge all while Gerald must finalize wedding plans and try to thwart a persistent—and unwanted—“admirer.”
It’s a race against time as Gerald shows symptoms, and Leo must fight a powerful Dark Mage to get the cure before he loses the love of his life.

Review: It has been several months since the events that first drew Gerald and Leo together. They are just a few weeks from their wedding day when several things happen, a plague and a secret admirer for Gerald.
Leo is pulled in two different directions as he works to find a cure for the sickness that is spreading in London. With the help of several other mages they look for anything that will stop the deaths. Adding to all of this is the new worry about a secret admirer leaving disturbing gifts for Gerald.
Gerald is coping with several things of his own. He needs to get used to being treated differently as his is marrying a lord. He fears he may not measure up or be good enough for Leo. On top of all this there is the planning of the wedding and the realization that his life will never be the same. Oh and the creepy gifts he keeps getting.
Both Leo and Gerald love each other. But that does not stop them from having their issues. Gerald may be physically bigger than Leo, but that does not stop Leo from getting over-protective.
This author created an incredible world. She managed to mix Victoria England with mages and make something unique. The history is tweaked enough to make it all work seamlessly. I loved how marriages are treated the same regardless of the sexual match.
I loved the main characters as well as many of the secondary characters. Leo is not the average nobleman and has no problems breaking the rules. He has a strong understanding of himself and goes after what he wants. But is careful not cross the lines. Gerald is a big tender-hearted man. He sees the best in people, which has also caused him to be burned. Harry, Gerald’s best friend, is just hilarious. He is just such as wise ass and loves to cause trouble. Gerald’s granddad is just plain awesome, and turns out to be hiding a big secret.
There were a few things I did not like. It seemed at times like Gerald was treated as the “girl” in the partnership. He was expected by many others to give up working since he was marrying into the gentry. Also he seemed a little like a damsel in distress at times with how much trouble in got into through no fault of his own. These and a few other things just bugged me as I read along.
Also there story is so full of the mystery behind the sickness and other issues, that it seemed the book was more about that then the relationship and romance. I don’t know, it just was missing something that would have made it perfect for me.
Overall a well written novel about a very interesting and creative world.
