Review: The first thing that caught my eye with this story was the title and then I saw the cover and I knew that I wanted to see what it was about. Then I took a look at the blurb and had to grab it. This author is new to me, so I was a bit leery of reading it though. However I am so damn glad that I took a chance, because this story rocked.

A few years ago Cameron had left NCIS after an innocent man died. He blamed himself for the man’s death. He had been an innocent man who just happened to be gay, but his Cameron’s partner was a homophobic asshat that pushed it. After that Cameron knew he no longer wanted to be in the Navy. He had not only quit his job but came out to his family. His father deserted him, but his sister stayed. However sometimes he wished she hadn’t, especially when she set him up on blind dates.

Cameron had found the body of a woman whose cat he babysits for. If that wasn’t bad enough, the sheriff was a jerk. Now guess who his blind date was. You guessed it none other than the sheriff himself. So here was a sheriff who at first doesn’t seem to know how to find a killer, to ending up going on a blind date with Cameron. Cameron owns a cat specialty shop and Jake has two dogs, sounds pretty good to me.

Now one would think that these two definitely don’t have anything in common, but it would seem that for them it is the opposite. It takes one date to realize they have something good and that they seem to make a perfect team when it comes to killers.

I have got to say that these two were the best characters I have come across in a long time. They are fully developed and there is so much detail that you feel like you know them from the start. The story is one of the best mysteries I have read in a while. It not only has the serious tone to it, but this story has so much humor in it that made it rock even more.

I hope that the author will turn this into a series with Jake and Cam the main characters in some future mysteries. I had so much fun with this and can’t wait to see what other stories this amazing author has out there.

Review: This is the first book by this author that I have read and let me tell you, that she will be on my auto buy list. Well she will be as long as her stories don’t have girly parts in them. I always did love a man in a uniform. Something so damn sexy about them, even when their uniforms don’t do them justice.

This story just caught my attention from the start and kept it all the way to the end. I love how well-rounded the guys and their story was. Although Sam is a bit wimpy in my eyes, he still rocked it. Sam has a crush on an old classmate, but he also hated him with a passion. In school the man did nothing but make it impossible to like him. They shared one friend, and it would seem a jealous streak was showing even then. Sam had not realized though that Adam was only reacting that way because he liked Sam also.

Adam was certain that if he came out gay he would most certainly lose his job. He just had not expected for Sam to end things between them so that Adam could be happy. Too bad it was not working, the man was anything but happy.

Sam his whole life thought that Adam was straight, but to find out that he wasn’t and why he hid, made it a hard decision. Behind doors they rock all night long, but then day light hits and Adam is a scare little boy, who needs to make a decision.

Now I loved this story but there is a big cliff hanger at the end, a teaser of more death. The guys have a dead body, a man in jail and it would seem more questions unanswered. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book.

This is one story that will be read more than once.

Blurb: We’re getting the band back together.

Those five words send a chill down Miki St. John’s spine, especially when they’re spoken with a nearly religious fervor by his brother-in-all-but-blood, Damien Mitchell. However, those words were nothing compared to what Damien says next.

And we’re going on tour.

When Crossroads Gin hits the road, Damien hopes it will draw them closer together. There’s something magical about being on tour, especially when traveling in a van with no roadies, managers, or lovers to act as a buffer. The band is already close, but Damien knows they can be more—brothers of sorts, bound not only by familial ties but by their intense love for music.

As they travel from gig to gig, the band is haunted by past mistakes and personal demons, but they forge on. For Miki, Damie, Forest, and Rafe, the stage is where they all truly come alive, and the music they play is as important to them as the air they breathe.

But those demons and troubles won’t leave them alone, and with every mile under their belts, the band faces its greatest challenge—overcoming their deepest flaws and not killing one another along the way.

Review: This was my first time reading this series, so when I was given this story to read I had to go grab the others. I was pretty damn glad that I had otherwise I would have been lost as hell. Rhys has suddenly become an author that I will be keeping an eye on for future books. I have never really been a fan of stories that involve bands, but only because they just seem to not to click with me as much as they should have. I can honestly say that this is not the case with these stories. Even though there is humor to them, there is more of a serious tone to them that make what has happened to these characters stand out more.

Each of the band members have been through some troublesome times and have slowly came to where they should be when they meet the ones meant for them. They start to heal and grow together as a family and as a band. That doesn’t mean that it will be all roses and sun shines though.

The guys are going to leave their men behind in this one so that they can come together better than they have been. This is more due to Damien pushing them to do this. More to bond with each other better. Even though it has them altogether it is more about Miki. Even though he has been through so much, this will make his relationship stronger with both Damien and Kane. Damien is a kind of adopted brother to Miki. This journey will be bringing up a lot of their past and memories will be heightened. It is a very emotional time for them all.

I actually loved the fact that Kane is a detective and is so protective. This book had more twists and turns that I had not really expected, but loved all the same. The mystery that is inside this amazing story was a great hit also. Which told me that it was a good thing that I had went and read the others, before reading this story otherwise I would have been extremely lost.

The only downside to this story was the ending. I have never really liked cliff hangers or being left with questions so I wanted to smack Rhys by the time I got to it. I found myself loving the guys a bit more after each word. They have their tender and fragile side to them, but they also have the strength to continue to fight not only for themselves but for the ones they love.

I loved how this author created a world that you would swear you were in the whole entire time. It is fully developed and the detail was out of this world. The characters were fresh, vivid and absolutely beautiful. Their emotions were felt all the way to one’s soul. It was a world that I wished I had belonged to.

I absolutely loved this story and can guarantee that you will also. It was a blast to read and I would definitely recommend it. I can’t wait to see what the next story will bring.

Review: The first thing I am going to say is that based on the story itself I would have given it a five, however I cannot stand females in my stories so at first there was a mention of him and the friend which was ok. However half way through and it came up again, I am afraid that I just skimmed to the end of the story for the ending. I didn’t even want to give it a chance after that.

Mark had been writing all about the disappearance of Helena Carter. Now he was being forced to decide to either lose his job or change his attitude about it. So he has decided to start searching for the woman himself.

This story was not what I had expected at all. I did love the humor I sensed in it and enjoyed the numerous characters that Mark came across throughout his searching. I have to say that I did not have a clue what happened to the woman, so it was a surprise for me. It was an enjoyable story other than the female added in. It is unlike any other gay mystery that I have come across but then again it was quite refreshing in itself.

The problem was it fell short but not really very noticeable. I have come to find that I do love a good mystery every once in a while and Michael’s stories have a way of just creeping up on you. I loved the fact that while on the search he meets a man who has him falling in love.

The pace for this story was perfectly paced to me. It was well-defined, fully developed and the details were perfect. Although I have to say Mark was a pain in the ass in certain parts of the story. And what is the deal with calling the woman who was under sixty, old. He needed to be smacked upside the head for that one.

Overall I enjoyed the book and can’t wait to see what the next book will be like. I just hope there are no girly parts added on.

Review: Return to Zero is the third book in the Shatterproof Bond series by Isobel Starling, although the book is really 0.5, making this on book 2. I have to say straight off the bat, this is definitely my favourite book in the series so far.

We follow couple Declan Ramsey and Sam Aiken, who work for Sam’s father’s super-spy agency A.L.L. Declan has now become an agent, although he is waiting for his first assignment, while Sam is trying his best to help Declan as well begins to feel a ghost from his past begin to catch up to him.

This one is high action and adrenaline as well as a good heaping of romance and love that makes you think “nawwww”. Both characters develop more than they have in the previous books put together as Declan and Sam need to find new strength so that they can survive the horrors and the drama that is about to catch them.

As ever, there are plenty of Princess Bride references, which I completely love. Although it doesn’t seem to completely match the characters, I love the fact that Sam calls Declan “Buttercup”.

This is for fans of spy and action type of romances. It is both hot and sweet while the danger increases around them. For those that have read the first 2 books, this is a must to read because we get to find out so much more about Declan, Sam and the world in which they live and it is so completely satisfying.

Review: Kim Fielding writes my favorite kind of books, full of feelings and emotions, with real characters who are not perfect nor do they strive to be. Her books are not as steamy as I’d like and yet the storytelling and the writing make up for the little things that are lacking. Who needs sex in every chapter when they get characters that are real, flawed and so easy to relate to?

Jeremy and Qayin are not young chickens who experiment with love. They’re both in their 40’s and they feel very single one of those years, especially Qayin. Qay is a recovering addict with a closet full of secrets and skeletons. Life has not been kind to him, and the only way he managed to drown his anxiety and depression was by losing himself in a world of booze, drugs and sex. Qay managed to get his life turned around and he’s one of those lucky people who actually learned something from his past mistakes.

Qay’s past still haunts him every single day. But he’s determined to finish college so that he can better himself. I have so much admiration for people who overcome their struggles and this was one of the things I loved the most about Qay. Yet, regardless of his determination, Qay doesn’t think much of himself and he knows he’s not good enough for someone like Jeremy.

Jeremy is a park ranger who’s like a modern version of a super hero: Super-Ranger to the rescue! Jeremy’s childhood was hell. He was bullied and made fun of, his parents were cold and indifferent, and the one person he felt didn’t hate him jumped off a bridge in an effort to kill himself.

When Jeremy got the opportunity to move away to Portland for college, he left and never looked back. Jeremy is all about helping people, especially LGBT homeless teens, and the respect everyone has for him is easy to see. Jeremy has an innate goodness that not many people possess, and that goodness prevents him from turning his back on his drug-addict ex-boyfriend Donny, when he shows up at his door beaten up and bloody.

Jeremy finds himself the target of some nefarious dealers his ex socialized with, while trying to pursue a relationship with Qay and save the world, all at the same time. The plot itself was thriller-like and well done. The relationship between Qay and Jeremy was sweet and full of feelings.

In all honesty I felt like this plot and the relationship between these two didn’t go together very well. I ended up being overwhelmed because Qay’s relapse and his difficulty in accepting Jeremy’s feelings took all my focus and all my heart. The bad guys needed to go, because the last thing I needed to keep up with was Jeremy getting shot and all the craziness that came with that.

This was a great book, I really enjoyed reading it! I am so very excited to read the next one in this series because NEVIN!!!! He was my favorite secondary character, I liked him even more than I liked Rhoda, and she was a kickass woman! Nevin with his filthy mouth and an even filthier personality will probably get his own book and I’m going to love every single page of that bad boy falling in love.

Review: This is my first story by Rick and I can tell you that I am definitely intrigued by it. I have to say though, that the beginning was a bit slow for me and I actually had to walk away from it. The pace was just not fast enough to keep my attention for long. The story itself though was pretty damn good. It had a lot going on in it and I was surprised that it had all these twists to it. When I thought I knew what was going on, well let’s just say I had no clue in the end.

My other thing is I have never been one into stories with rent boys or escorts. They always seem to have the same thing going on. So I was quite surprised that this one was definitely a fresh new tale to me and I enjoyed the characters quite a bit. I admit that the whole story surprised me all the way to the end.

We have some characters with unusual names that are quite different from each other, yet they have this pull to be with each other. Wren has just lost his job and had no real place to go except to continue living with his mother. However it would seem that she had somewhere else she wanted to live so Wren was pretty much on his own. Then Dave approached him with a job offer. To his luck he had just had his wallet stolen so he ended up working for the ass.

David is a forty-nine year old virgin who loves to sell sexy men for sex. He is about as evil as you can find, but he also different. He saves them from drugs and smoking, trying to show them that they can make money by doing something they enjoy. Then one of his rent boys is murdered.

Rufus is to be Wren’s mentor and help him get into the life. His past was filled with drugs that would eventually kill him. Dave saved him from that death and continued to keep him clean. Hi one night with Wren has shown him that he does in fact still feel something more. Too bad after that night Wren realizes he is not cut out to sell his body. The thing is these two seem to want each other, time will tell if it will be enough or not.

Now I loved the mystery that this story had as well as the action, but the journal entries were a bit too much for me. I lost interest in those moments of reading. Other than my issues with this book, I have to say that Rick R. Reed is one gifted author. This story might not have been for me, but I can guarantee that if you love mysteries, action and some amazing twist, then this will be for you.

Review: This is the first book in the Hunting Evil series.

This is the way a mystery and suspense book should be written. I was enthralled from the very first paragraph and could not stop reading until the very end.

Special Agent Todd Hutchinson and his team are called in to investigate a grisly murder. But what they uncover is so much worse than they thought. The details of the murders were horrific in nature. One of the things that bothered me in the story was the utter lack of caring on the police’ part. They didn’t seem to care that many men had been murdered so heinously. Their homophobia showed through loud and clear in this book.

Noah had me concerned for him though I completely understood his reasoning for contacting killers in prison. I still don’t think I could do that myself. Needless to say Noah was a great asset to Hutch’s investigation. The chemistry between the two was hot once things heated up between them.

I loved how well-written, balanced and informative the investigation into the murders went. I felt as though I was right there with them seeing everything as it occurred. This is the best mystery and suspense book I’ve read in a while. With a lot of heart stopping, edge of you seat scenes that leave you breathless with anticipation.

If I could give this book a ten I would. Looking forward to seeing what else happens in this captivating series.

I absolutely loved it and highly recommend it.

I can tell you this, the moment you start reading it, you won’t be able to put it down. This is an action pack, danger filled love story between a known gay man and a straight president. At first I wasn’t sure how this author was going to pull it off, especially after the first kiss. I was sitting on the edge of my seat, sweating bullets and hoping my hero didn’t get dished.

Our new president is having major trouble settling in. Jack is one of those presidents we would wish was in charge these days. He followed the rules and did what he was supposed to. However ever since he lost his wife several years ago, that was all he did. Now here he was trying to talk the head of his secret service into hanging with him. He wanted a best friend, but what he found was a man to fall in love with. Which was pretty frightening to him, seeing as he never was in to men.

Ethan had at one time been in the military, and now was with the secret service. He had, in fact, served under two other presidents before Jack. He always followed the rules, never breaking cover. That is until the president wanted a friend to hang out with. He was getting way over his head with this one, his heart was falling fast. He had broken the rules and things were going to get real for them both.

Tal Bauer is a new author for me and one that I will continue to follow from this point on. I was surprise that for an author that only has two books out, his gift is way ahead of the game. I loved that there was just a hint of humor in it that made it rock for me. It wasn’t one of those stuffy type books that you come across at all. I was also surprised that for once, I found a story of a straight man turned gay, if that is what you call it. It actually came across just perfect to me.

I enjoyed reading this and look forward to the next book.

Review: When I first saw this I took one look at the cover and wasn’t sure if I wanted to read it.  That is until I realized that the woman on the cover is actually Vinnie in drag.  From that moment on I knew that I had to read it.  The title was the best I have come across in a long time.  I was thinking ok mystery and suspense will not have the humor in it, then the title told me something different.

I started reading this and could not put it down.  It caught my attention from the moment I started reading and kept it all the way to the end.  I absolutely thought that the dog was the perfect addition to these two.  This story gave me everything I could want in a story and had changed my mind about mysteries and suspense stories.

Vinnie and Ethan are Federal undercover detectives that go in and help other law enforcement agencies. The first time you meet these two sexy men, Vinnie is dressed up as a sexy woman trying to catch a mugger. What they got was a dog that liked to steal women’s purses. Talk about a partner in crime. Then their boss informs them that there is trouble at one of the clubs where drag queens are getting hurt. Well Vinnie does look the best in a dress and heels.

This was one of the best suspense and mystery stories I have come across, and the number one reason was the fact that it had so much humor in it. I had so much fun in this and definitely can’t wait till the next book comes out. I will definitely be checking out what other books this author has out.

This is one book that I would recommend reading.

Review: This is the first book I’ve read by Isobel Starling. I have to admit that one of the draws was the references to the movie The Princess Bride and that really did provide some funny moments in the book.

This is technically the first book in the series, but this story takes place after our MCs meet, which happens in #0.5 of the series, As You Wish. Nonetheless, Isobel Starling does also provide a synopsis of the first short story, but I think I still would have preferred to read it myself. However, I do not think that not reading As You Wish took away from my enjoyment.

An Englishman, Declan, and a Scotsman, Sam, meet at their siblings wedding at a castle off the shores of Loch Ness. Sounds like the punch line to a joke – or the start of an Outlander book. Now we follow the story of the guys as they try to get their romance to work in the real world – which is a lot trickier when Declan finds out that his boss, Sam’s father, is not just a rich and titled businessman. He also finds out that Sam has his own role to play in his father’s real business.

It’s an interesting storyline with a couple of interesting twists. However, if you aren’t into anything to do thriller/espionage or anything similar to Bourne Identity, this probably is not the book for you. This also seems big on the insta-love, so again, I know a lot of people that aren’t keen on those types of books.

The guys have a lot of charisma and sexual tension, the biggest problem I had with this book is that the plot didn’t seem fully fleshed out. I suppose I will have to wait for the sequels, which I very much interested in reading.

I want to know where this crazy ride with Declan and Sam will go.

Review: Golden Dancer, by Tara Lain, is the first book in the Dangerous Dancers series, and has previously been published. I am not entirely what has happened to the story in the revision process, so I can’t comment if this is more enjoyable this time around. However, in general if you like hot ménage with a dash of mystery and suspense, all set in the world of fine art and ballet, this is one pretty damn hot ride and thoroughly enjoyable.

The story starts with Mac, who narrates a majority of the story. He’s interesting as a character in the fact that he is the gritty reporter who follows his nose from one mystery to the next, including assignments in warzones.

Yet, his parents are both world-renowned ballet dancers and when he is called to fill in the position of arts reporter it is pretty damn easy for him to slip into the more refined world to interview one of the most famous ballet dancers from New York, Trelain.

Add in the fact that he also has the chance the encounter the billionaire who he suspects is also an art thief, Daniel Terrebone.

These three guys are well-developed and fleshed out characters. I like the sense of mystery as it unraveled and we eventually find out how the strands of plot tie in together.

However, I have to admit that when the truth did come out it was a bit of an anticlimax – I think it’s a combination of it being over after one very brief “a-ha!” moment and the fact that I figured it out before it was confirmed for me. The only other problem I had was the villains were very Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, in the fact that we were encountering some rather dodgy German villains.

In addition to this I don’t think that these villain characters weren’t at all developed, they appeared when required and served their purpose before uneventfully moving on.

This is a great book and I find myself very much intrigued as to the direction that this series is going in.

Review: This is the second book I have read by this author, and let me tell you that I have found an author worth following. If there was a way to give it more than a five heart rating I would. I enjoyed myself quite a bit reading this and even had tears in my eyes at some points. It is a well written story, fully developed with a lot of depth to it. I started reading it and couldn’t put it down.

Ben’s father was a Marine. However Ben decided to join the Navy. He had spent most of his time in the sandbox with many Army men. However, he was tired of the death around him. After getting out, he joined the FBI but was still hiding his true self. He never really felt like he was truly living a life he loved. After another screw up at work, he decided to go out and get totally wasted. He just hadn’t expected to meet Tanner.

Tanner was a sexy rancher who wanted Ben. However, the next night, Ben was gone after a great night of sex. He felt abandoned, until Ben came back in full agent mode. Someone was killing gay men, and Tanner was the connection to it all. The problem was Ben never told his superiors that he knew Tanner and kept getting deeper into trouble. Ben was getting deeper and deeper and his team knew something was wrong. That is until someone came after the man he was falling in love with.

Wow this book rocked in more than one way. I absolutely loved it and can’t wait to see what other stories this amazing author has out.

I would definitely recommend it.
